NEURO-CORRECTIVE BODYWORK
Neuro-Based Recovery
with Norma-Jean Anaya LMT
Neuro-Based Recovery is an advanced, assessment-driven service designed for clients whose pain, weakness, or restriction has not resolved with treatment aimed at the tissue itself.
The service leads with P-DTR — Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex — which identifies sensors sending faulty information to the brain and corrects them at the source, then integrates massage, manual therapy, and Active Release Techniques according to what the assessment finds.
New clients and returning clients (6+ months): Every new client begins with a 90-minute Intro session — this is where we build the full picture of your body before any treatment begins. This is also required for returning clients who haven't been seen in 6 months or more, as the body changes and your program needs to reflect that.

LEARN MORE
Neuro-Based Recovery, explained
The nervous system depends on constant information from sensors in the muscles, joints, and skin. After an injury, surgery, or prolonged overuse, some of those sensors begin reporting incorrectly — and the body responds to the faulty information as though it were accurate, inhibiting muscles, limiting range of motion, and producing pain where no damage exists.
Neuro-Based Recovery traces the symptom back to the signal producing it. Muscle testing identifies the faulty input, correction is applied, and an immediate retest confirms the change. Hands-on treatment then addresses the tissue that has been compensating.

MODALITIES & METHODS
Techniques Used
Norma-Jean draws from a range of advanced, evidence-informed modalities, selecting and combining them based on what your assessment reveals in each session.
P-DTR (Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex)
Muscle testing that identifies sensors sending faulty information to the brain. The signal is corrected through precise stimulation and confirmed by immediate retest, often within the same minute.
Active Release Technique (ART)
Specific contact combined with active movement, releasing adhesions and scar tissue in muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia, and around nerves
Manual Therapy & Clinical Massage
Deep tissue, myofascial, and clinical massage applied to the areas identified by assessment.
Z-Health Neuro Training
Drills for the visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive systems that change the quality of input reaching the brain. Used to reduce pain, restore range, and improve coordination, with changes that can be measured in the same session.
Movement & Performance Assessment
Evaluation of gait, posture, and functional movement using FMSA and FMA screening to identify where output breaks down and which corrections will hold under load.
Sports & Recovery Massage
Treatment supporting training load, competition demands, and return to activity.
Between-Session Neuro Drills
A key part of Neuro-Based Recovery is what happens between visits. Norma-Jean assigns personalized P-DTR reinforcement and Z-Health drills designed to hold the corrections made in session and continue your progress at home. Each drill targets the specific signal that was corrected, whether that's a body position sensor, the visual system, or balance, so the nervous system keeps receiving accurate input between appointments.
Supplemental Tools — Used When Appropriate
Norma-Jean may incorporate Vagus Nerve Stimulation via the Dolphin Neurostim device or PEMF therapy via the HealthyLine BioMat to enhance session outcomes. These are available as part of your individualized treatment plan when the assessment calls for it.
WHY IT WORKS
Benefits of Neuro-Based Recovery
By correcting the faulty signals behind pain and weakness at their source, Neuro-Based Recovery produces changes that can be verified within the session and hold between visits.
Identifies and corrects the sensory source of chronic pain
Addresses nerve-related pain, numbness, and tingling
Reduces compensatory overuse and recurring flare-ups
Improves movement efficiency and athletic output
Restores inhibited or unreliable muscle function
Releases adhesions, scar tissue, and nerve entrapment
Improves balance, coordination, and body awareness
Supports return to training and competition
Resolves pain that persists despite healthy-looking tissue
Increases range of motion and tissue glide
Supports recovery from injury, surgery, and repetitive strain
Reinforces progress through targeted between-session drills

YOUR VISIT
What to Expect
01
Comprehensive Intake & Assessment
Your Intro session begins with a thorough intake and multi-system assessment. Norma-Jean will evaluate your posture, movement, gait, and muscle function using neurological muscle testing, FMSA and FMA movement screening, and P-DTR assessment. This identifies which sensors are sending faulty information to the brain and how your body has organized itself around them.
02
Targeted Neurological Correction
Based on your assessment, Norma-Jean applies precise, gentle stimulation to each faulty signal, then immediately retests to confirm the change before moving on. Treatment is specific to the signals identified, focused on the sensory input driving your symptoms. Sessions may include movement, active participation, and Z-Health drills for the visual and vestibular systems.
03
Manual Therapy & Soft Tissue Work
When the assessment calls for it, Norma-Jean incorporates Active Release Techniques, manual therapy, and clinical massage to address the tissue that has been compensating around the fault, restoring tissue glide and freeing entrapped nerves.
04
Movement & Reintegration
Before closing the session, Norma-Jean will guide you through targeted movement and neuro drills to load the corrections made during treatment. A brief re-assessment follows to evaluate how your body has responded, confirming the changes held and informing your homework and next session plan.
05
Close & Recovery
Before you leave, Norma-Jean will bring you a bottle of water and provide personalized P-DTR reinforcement and Z-Health drills to take home. These are specific to the signals corrected in your session and are designed to keep the nervous system receiving accurate input between visits.
